Thanks for the info, I hear it’s a great product. WE have the press release on the site now….
PS. Would you mind using some lower case letters too next time 🙂 You’re hurting my ears… and eyes..
take care
adminKeymasterHey – slac
That really depends entirely on your sealer mix design. If you look at the material spec sheet for the sealer your using it will usually provide a chart that gives the gallons per square yard (or feet) based on several different mix designs. For example, take a look at the spec sheet for Gem Seal Polytar. You can visit their website to take a look at http://www.gemseal.net/SpecSheets/polytar.spec.pdf
You can also check out the sealcoating mix design formula at https://www.pavemanpro.com/wiki/Sealcoating_Mix_Design_Calculations.
Hope this all helps.
adminKeymasterOK Great. I was going to look more into it but it sounds like the other store was just trying to sell you their paint. If I hear anything about new laws I’l let you know. Best of luck!

Hey. I’m not Canadian, but I do know that Marathon Equipment out of Canada manufactures IR equipment.
Someone else would have to inform you as to the quality of their equipment, but I believe they are a good company. There is also an article on this site that highlights some of the IR manufacturers. Go here: https://www.pavemanpro.com/index.php?/article/dont_buy_another_jackhammer/
Here’s their contact info.

adminKeymasterAs a side note — We have been conducting a poll on our Sealer Calculator page for the last year or so to find out what the ratio is of contractors who prefer coal tar vs. Asphalt Emulsion. The findings have been consistent throughout the poll. 68% of 386 contractors sampled in 41 states prefer Coal Tar. AE had an advantage in the poll since some states only have asphalt emulsion available… never-the-less Coal Tar still came out way ahead.
adminKeymasterSounds like a great product. Send us a press release with all the details so we can put it on the site for everyone to see!! Thanks,
brett@pavemanpro.comadminKeymasterRob – That is so true! I hope that Harry Carter from Gem Seal will pop in and say a few words about this, but in the meantime I wanted to let you know that we are currently working on a pavement sealer guide that should help explain the differences and suitability for the different types of sealers. I’m very excited about being able to post that sometime in the next few weeks. — fingers crossed. Thanks for your participation!
BrettadminKeymasterThank you Mark –
Yes, If you have any stories to tell about my dad, please post them or send me an email. Thanks to everyone who has already expressed their condolences over the loss of my dad.adminKeymasterHello –
Thanks for the question. There is alot there to talk about! I have posted an excerpt from NEAL that goes over this formula. FOllow the link below. You can also use the pavemanpro mix design calculator once you get a handle on it. It is highly accurate, and will also help answer your questions. The spec sheets for the material you use will also give you information on coverage rates and mix designs that relate specifically to that material. They are a great resource and will also help you with this stuff.Check out the link below. This info will give you insight into the formula.
https://www.pavemanpro.com/index.php?/wiki/Sealcoating_Mix_Design_Calculations/
Then go to the Paveman Pro material Calculator.

If you have any more detailed questions feel fre to post them. We have some material experts around here that we can get you in touch with or who will answer your questions here.
Take care.
adminKeymasterScreedman,
I havent found anyone yet that knows about seam. I’m going to keep looking. Can you tell us more and maybe a company that makes it?
adminKeymasterHello Newstripe –
I’ve heard the same concern from other contractors about some of the industry forums. Our goal here is to stay completely out of any industry politics and stay focused on helping contractors. Dan – the moderator of this forum – is one of the most knowledgeable people in the striping industry you will find. Any question you ask him will be answered based on many years of experience. (You might also check out his book…)
ALSO – Any question you ask in our forums will also be helpful to other contractors who come around like yourself looking for answers…. so we really appreciate it!
As a side note, Pavemanpro.com is a relatively new resource for contractors. We realize that we have a ways to go with providing on hand information for all the different questions that may be asked. If you have questions that you can’t find answers to, let us know and we’ll connect you with industry leading professionals that will give you solid answers.
Thanks for the question and take care,
adminKeymasterfrom what I hear the buyout will be very good thing for gemseal. I will ask harry carter -a long time veteran of the company to elaberate some time this week. I don’t think you should have any concerns at this point.
